Came home from my milk drop off and errand day on Wednesday to my entire herd of goats standing at the gate just screaming at me. I knew Pearl was due to kid on the 13th so I went and checked to see if there was any sign she was going into labor. This was at about 1:30 in the afternoon, and I didn't see anything at the time. I unloaded the feed I had just brought home and went to the house for lunch.
I came back down about 30 minutes later, and all of the girls were still standing at the gate screaming. I was standing there watching them, trying to figure out what was going on when I heard a little baby baa. Then I knew. I went into the pen and sure enough, Pearl had given birth to a look alike buckling. Baby was fresh, not yet on his feet and still partially in the sack. I took them both into the barn, cleaned him up a bit, sprayed the cord with iodine, and left them to bond.

Pearl (dam) is a two year old, Kiko/LaMancha doe that was born here on the farm. She is a first time kidder. She has been a great Mom so far, and is doing well on the milk stand for a beginner. She is a smaller doe, around 90 lbs but still has some growing and filling out to do this summer. We are epecting many great years with this little lady

Tank (sire) is a yearling Alpine/Nigerian buck that joined our farm in August of 2025. He is very sweet tempered, and easy to handle. He has a crazy cowlick on his forehead. This is his first breeding season with us. We are expecting great things from this guy. He is just a year old in February and weighs around 100 lb now, and still growing.
Pepper is a gorgeous little guy. Light tan with white and darker highlights. Will make an excellent breeding buck for any dairy or meat herd. He will be removed from Mom on the 12th of April and started on bottle. He can be purchased at that time for just $75 until he is disbudded around the 18th of April.
Our next round of kids out of Fancy, sired again by Tank are due the 17th of April. I'm expecting, due to Fancy's size we will have at least a set of twins, if not triplets.
