Gone Quackers

Our farm supports several varieties of laying ducks. The flock is primarily Swedish Blues, with a few Peking's, one very old Muscovy named Miss Broody (as she collects all the eggs laid and sits on them until I come to collect) and one also very old Cayuga. The flock ranges in age between 6 months and approximately 5 or more years. I'm not really sure how old the old lady's are but I know they have been here for many years. We currently have 18 ducks on site.

Our flock enjoys outside time in the yard every day, no matter the weather. They share the outside space with our chickens so are typically outside between 7am and 1pm every day. They have a small pond to bathe and play in during the warm season.

They are currently being fed a diet on non-GMO game bird feed with additional sunflower seeds and kitchen/garden scraps. Coming soon we will also start to supplement with black soldier fly larvae, and plans to start sprouting wheat or barley for additional green food in the winter months. Their feed is fermented in the warm season and dry in the winter as we do not have heated facilities near the barn.

Duck eggs are available for purchase during the laying season for just $7.00 a dozen. Laying season generally runs March through September. In 2025 we have sold 43 dozen duck eggs through our farm stand.

If you have never eaten duck eggs they are larger and richer than chicken eggs and are mostly yoke. The texture is slightly different. They are exceptional for baking. Due to their larger size you only need one duck egg for every two chicken eggs called out in a recipe.
